St. Peter's N.S. Tin-whistle classes/Tin-whistle ensemble

We have a very strong musical tradition here in St. Peter's with the establishment of our strings' project a few years ago and the running of school musicals (Oliver and Annie over the past eight years) prior to that.

Last year Ms. Ryan set up a tin-whistle ensemble with her 6th class pupils. Lessons took place every Wednesday after school. The ensemble was an off-shoot of tin-whistle lessons which took place during class time as part of the music curriculum. Ms. Ryan's ensemble have learned a wide variety of pieces from slow traditional songs to hymns and more lively pieces such as polkas.

They have performed on numerous occasions since their formation (as part of our orchestra open days (at Christmas), for Seachtain na Gaeilge, the Confirmation Ceremony in February and the 6th class Graduation Mass).

Let's hope that our 6th class pupils will further their musical skills and develop them beyond the boundaries of St. Peter's.
This year Ms.Ryan has captured the minds of her 3rd class students as she has taught them some very recognisable tunes ( such asTwinkle Twinkle) within the first few days. Long may this continue!!
Our 3rd class tin whistle ensemble performed at our strings' project concert on Thursday,18th of December 2014. They were highly complimented by Sr. Bernadette Sweeney (former principal of St. Agnes' N.S. Crumlin)
