Senior Infants-Ms. Casey 2018 2019

Ms. Casey's Senior Infants

Intercultural Day

We had the best time celebrating Intercultural Day on Friday June 14th. It was so nice to welcome parents into our classroom and perform songs, poems, and dances for them. We also enjoyed sampling delicacies from different countries. Thank you to all the parents who were kind enough to bake for us! In our class this year we have pupils from Ireland, India, China, The Philippines, Romania, Poland, Moldova, Latvia, Vietnam, Mauritius, and Australia.

School Tour

On Thursday May 23rd, we headed off on a double-decker bus with the other Senior Infant classes to Clonfert Animal Farm in Co. Kildare! We enjoyed a tour of the farm, playing in the indoor play area, outdoor playground, bouncy castle, mini-golf, go-carts, football, and even a zipline! It was great to see all the farm animals we had been learning about in real life! Special thanks to the parents who came along to help out with supervision on the day.

Sports Day

Sports Day took place on Wednesday June 19th in Dalymount Park. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we got to participate in lots of different activities, including parachute games, three-legged race, egg-and-spoon race, sack race, free-play, basketball skills, and our medal races- the 100m sprint and hurdles. Well done everyone for giving it their all!

We're lucky to have access to such educational technology at St. Peter's NS. Bee-Bots serve as a fun introduction to programming at this age!

We love learning through play! This year we have learned about lots of topics and themes, including the restuarant, the post office, occupations, and many more!

What better way to learn about the butterfly lifecycle than to watch it up close in our very own classroom?! It was fascinating to see our caterpillars grow so quickly, turn into chrysalides, and eventually hatch out into beautiful butterflies!

We've loved learning football skills every Thursday for the past number of months. We've been working hard perfecting the pick-up, solo, and hand-pass. Thanks so much to our coach, Mark, from St. Brendan's GAA club!
