4th-10th October 2019
My class celebrated World Space Week between the 4th and 10th of October this year. We learned about the history of space exploration and space travel. We investigated the solar system and all of the different planets. We had great fun creating our own planets and making the solar system during Art.

On the 18th of October we eventually set off on our Sponsored walk, after many failed attempts due to the weather! We walked to the National Botanical Gardens where we were given a sculpture tour. We really enjoyed learning about these sculptures and all of the cool plants and flowers in the Gardens. A huge thank you to the parents who joined us and to everyone who sponsored the walk.
This year we celebrated Halloween by dressing up and donating some money to Temple Street children’s Hospital. Everyone had such wonderful costumes and we all had great fun playing Halloween games.
Our class took part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox appeal. We were so proud to become involved in this wonderful Appeal to help those who are less fortunate than us across the world. I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the children and families that got involved by donating some gifts to families who are affected by poverty. Without your kindness and generosity this would not have been possible.
Our theme for the month of November is homes. To explore this theme we looked at the different types of homes all over the world. We also learned about how homes have changes over the years. In art, we created our very own homes using recyclable materials.
We have been so lucky to receive new instruments this year, and we have been busy putting them to good use. Our class has had so much fun composing and performing using the triangles, shakers, chime bars and boom whackers!
In Gaeilge we have been learning about the theme of Eadaí. We have completed quizes, designed our own funky outfits and created a wardrobe using all of the vocab we have learned!
Coming up to Christmas we have learned all about Advent. We designed our own Advent tree and decorated the baubles for the tree. Behind each bauble there is an act of kindness that we complete each day on the run up to Christmas.
