Handball tournament win in St. Damian’s NS- 26th of April 2023
Wednesday, 26th of April proved to be a lovely sunny day as our boys and girls made the relatively short trip to St. Damian's N.S in Perrystown. We were competing against St. Damian's and St. Attracta's N.S. in both U-13 boys and girls tournament. Both the boys and girls performed very well against St. Damian's winning all of their four matches.
The competition from St. Attracta's proved to be very tough with the girls performing well but coming up short in their two matches. They played in the final against St. Attracta's N.S. but they prevailed in the end. Well done to our girls for coming second overall in this tournament.
Our boys also found the going tough against St. Attracta's boys as their speed of passing and moving proved difficult to contain. They narrowly lost their first match but St. Attracta's were more decisive in the second match.
We were to face Attracta's once again in the finals. After a very strong and assured start (where our boys were always ahead from the first goal scored) some clinical attacking and great goalkeeping saw us squeeze by and win the final by a single goal. It was a great turnaround from a significant defeat in the previous game to the same opposition.
