Mark Creegan- wellbeing practitioner working with St. Peter's as part of Strand 2 Counselling in Primary Schools Pilot (CPS-P) Grant

Over the past number of months, our well-being practitioner Mark has been working with a number of pupils in the senior classes as well as some of our classes to enhance well-being, build self-esteem. See details of the programme below:

Strand 2 of the pilot is the establishment of a new type of support to schools from Education
Wellbeing Teams and the introduction of Education Wellbeing Practitioners, working under
the direction and supervision of NEPS, to support clusters of schools in Cork, Carlow, Dublin
7 and Dublin 16. The supports being offered under Strand 2 are to pupil, parents and school
staff and focus on:
• strengthening whole school preventative approaches to promoting wellbeing and
mental health in line with the Department of Education’s Wellbeing Policy and
Framework for Practice.
• providing psycho-educational support for parents and teachers.
• providing early intervention to children with mild/emerging need, using therapeutically
informed approaches.
