Super busy day in St. Peter’s NS- 12/1/23
Thursday, 12th of January proved to be an extremely busy day in St. Peter’s NS for students and staff alike.
Our day kicked off with a visit from LearnIT. They visited 4 classes (Ms. Brosnan’s 1st class, Ms. Beirne’s 3rd class, Ms. Hughes’ 5th class and Ms. Carroll’s 6th class) to introduce the children to Lego Wedo2. Some of our pupils were familiar with the programme already but nonetheless, it proved a real hit with all the boys and girls as they engaged in robotics, coding, programming, construction, creative thinking and team work. See some images of Ms. Hughes’ 5th class in action.
At. 10am, Kildare Educate Together arrived to put our boys’ and girls’ Olympic Handball teams through their paces. After 6 hard fought matches, Kildare ET came out on top, winning three of the matches (mixed teams twice and one of the girls’ matches) with St. Peter’s winning two (one boys and one girls match) and the last boys’ match tied (our boys were winning by two goals until the last minute).
The boys and girls from both schools were so well behaved and very respectful towards each other and they all had a great time. See images below.
Finally 9 of our staff including our principal (Mr. Ryan) are involved in team coaching with the Centre for School Leadership. They had their first main team coaching session today with the sun having set before they left the school this evening.
