We are delighted to announce that five of our students in Ms. Carroll’s class finished in the top 15 in Glasnevin Cemetery’s Shane MacThomáis essay competition.

Out of the hundreds of entries that received, after several rounds of judging, five of our students featured in the top 15.

Overall, the schools’ entries were of an exceptional standard with all four judges noting the originality, standard of research and composition of the essays.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate Lily who has won the overall top prize of a One4All voucher, a competition trophy, her essay published in The Primary Planet magazine as well as the essay displayed here in the visitor centre.

All four judges highly praised her outstanding efforts with regards to research and composition as well as a personal connection to the topic covered.

Three further students were also in our top 10, Bhavya, Miriam and Hazel have all won our Silver Prize, a voucher as well as a competition medal.

Commendation must also go to Isabella whose essay also made it into the top 15.
